New Deck, New Me

Since being quarantined, there’s been a lot more time available for internet browsing. I have never really been the type to shop online (how is that possible, right?) but I have been scouring kickstarter and etsy on the hunt for a Tarot deck that feels really right. You know, the feeling that they all talk about. The feeling where the cards in your hands feel like they’re home.

Well guys, I’ve finally found The Best Deck. And that’s a bit of a big statement because these feelings can happen with whatever deck is meant for you. But I have just received the Light Seer’s Tarot deck by Chris-Anne and I feel like a child doing snow angels. I’m beyond ecstatic for this deck.

The imagery is so bright and colorful and allows your intuition to speak up as well as providing the original meaning of the RWS deck.

It comes in this thick cardboard box that I appreciate. I have a silk bag for one deck, original boxes for the other two. I almost always leave the cards in their original packaging. That just feels right to me. My silk bag is reserved for my oldest cards.

When I opened the deck, I began to flip through the cards. Then put them back. I said, wait, not yet. I wanted to soak everything in.

I pulled out the guidebook and read through the intro and saw what Chris-Anne means about light seer and shadow seer. I decided that I would not use reversals with this deck, that the only reversal I’d go with was when I forced a card into reverse by setting the intentions and asking for the shadow aspects (which she goes over in the guidebook). It’s pretty powerful so far and I kind of love this about it. Also, if you go back to the beginning of Tarot, reversals weren’t really a thing because the pip (minor arcanas) looked just like playing cards so there wasn’t really a reversal.

In the guidebook, Chris-Anne requested us to go through and ask which card inspires you/is attracting you/stands for big yes. And the same for which card makes you feel uncomfortable, worrisome, a big no. I went through the entire deck. All the courts, all the minors, all the majors. When I saw the Sun, which ive never really felt much for one way or another before, but this time it was a big ole yes and so inspirational. Then I came across the Devil. Okay yes I’ve never really cared for the Devil card but his eyes! They pierce into your soul! And he has a smokey puppet at his fingertips. Sent shivers down my spine. So yep. He’s the uncomfortable cards. These cards are now my light seer and shadow seer’s and I can’t wait for this journey!

I’ve been shuffling the deck carefully, ensuring that the cards remain upright. I did one of the readings in the guidebook, mostly because it contained spreads that I’ve never done before, which I very much appreciate. I also then interviewed my deck and got wonderful insight from that experience. I even had new intuitive connections with all of the cards used!

I have done two spreads for someone since I’ve received this deck and they’ve been able to resonate with the cards image as well, more so than the antiquated vibe of RWS.

Anyways! Get yours here! This isn’t an ad, I just really love them that much.
