Marcella’s Favorite Things: Tarot Decks I Use

You know that moment when you spend over an hour writing an entire blog post complete with pictures and all that behind-the-scenes SEO crap that no one really understands? And something happens where it deletes EVERYTHING?! That just happened to me.

I’m going to breathe through this. But I had to cry for a sec.

ANYWAYS I guess I’ll consider that as a draft that wasn’t worth reading and here’s an even better version! That took me over two weeks to feel back into the motion of writing this all over.

okay for real anyways.

I aspire to one day be as cool as Oprah.

I met her once and her energy was just beyond inspiring and so full of light. Is this what Jesus felt like? Maybe. I knew she was in the room before I even saw her. She radiated positivity and just— you know she actually might be the Empress. Damn. Yep. That’s Oprah. Overwhelming loving energy. Okay, we all know everyone loves Oprah. I’ll move on.

Well, one of my favorite things about Oprah is she has a following based on a list of her favorite things! What’s my niche though?! Tarot. Which is not like Oprah so there you go. So I want to create a blog based on my favorite things (Tarot related).

I have 3 Tarot decks that I use. I WANT to be the kind of person that has hundreds, but I can’t seem to imagine using them as much as they need to be used in order to connect to all of them. I am SO connected to my 3 little decks and they work very well for me.

That being said, I can’t wait to get my hands on The Spacious Tarot! And I just recently purchased the Light Seers Tarot. Can’t wait for those to arrive!

The first deck I ever had was the basic Rider Waite I bought myself in a small town in Pennsylvania. It never really worked for me, I think the colors were too bold and distracting. I ended up gifting it to a friend who wanted a deck for herself.

This is why I love the centennial edition that a friend gifted me (hmm, maybe there is something to the “it works better when it comes to you” idea). It glows, almost. It’s very light and airy and just has a good energy about it. Feels like a homecoming deck.

I use this deck for readings that I’m nervous about (I get nervous when I read for celebrities, which makes absolutely no sense because they’re no different from you and me.) This deck speaks to me and I highly recommend it for beginners.

I currently cannot use this deck because one card is missing (this isn’t the first time that this has happened with this deck, same card). But this is good to know! If you have a missing card, yes that’s because that card is trying to tell you something that you’re ignoring, BUT you can choose to ignore that, like me! and contact the US Games or wherever the deck was printed, and they will send you a replacement card for free! Fabulous <3

Another deck I love is the Gustav Klimt Golden Tarot Pocket edition from Lo Scarabeo. This deck is BEAUTIFUL beyond words, it has gold foil throughout each card and it’s just so mesmerizing to look at. Also, I bought this one for myself and it still works, so don’t fall for that superstition.

I use this deck for most of my readings because they just feel like how I want to present myself to the world. They feel like self worth. There are a few cards that have conflicting images per the traditionally taught meaning of the card.

For example, The Fool is a naked man cowering over with his head in his hands. Whh-attt? Why is this? This feels like the reversed message of the fool. Alas, the deck I choose for the querent has always been the message the querent needs to hear so, I still intuitively can read with this deck.

I was gifted the Impressionist Tarot deck. I do LIKE it but I don’t LOVE it. For example, the death card is interesting because it’s just a field with birds flying in the air. I like this more than the Rider Waite deck, but the light seers tarot death card, I can’t wait to have my hands on it. A hooded figure in the dark, but his face is beautiful and transformative (see photo of the three cards below)

An interesting story about the Death card, I pulled a card for a woman who wanted to look at her relationship and it was the Knight of Pentacles card. I said hmm interesting, never made the connection or noticed that this card looks just like Death…is there a change happening in your partner? Turns out her partner was transitioning! Tarot is truly amazing and always always always follow what piques your interest.
