Can Tarot Predict the Future?
There’s been an idea floating around about Tarot that it can predict the future. This idea is what scares people away from Tarot. I’ll keep this short and sweet. Tarot cannot predict the future and don’t buy what that person is selling if they tell you that it can.
Tarot does, however, show you where your energies are currently and what the likely outcomes of certain actions that you take could be.
What does that mean, where your energies are?
So every moment that we are alive, we have free will. You make choices every moment of every day, small, seemingly insignificant ones, but choices all the same. But that’s free will and that is so important. Free will is what makes life good.
“Instead, (the cards) show us trends and likelihood. But what makes something likely? The answer lies in our lack of self-knowledge. As long as we do not truly know ourselves, we will follow patterns, act from fear or shame or unacknowledged desires. We will respond to life in predictable ways. We all possess free will but we rarely use it, for genuine freedom requires self-knowledge.”
I can pull Tarot cards for you and it will reveal where you’re heading. It can show you aspects of your situation that you may not be seeing. It can show you outcomes of what could happen if you do A instead of B. But you have free will so you can change the outcome regardless.
Sometimes the cards will show you something that you already feel a certain way towards deep, deep inside. That’s why the cards resonate with you, because you already know the truth. The Tarot connects you to, well, You. The You that exists in the future, the present, and the past.
The You that has your best intention in mind.
When I pull cards, I set the intention of pulling for the message that will reveal the highest good, the necessary only. With Tarot, you are connecting to an experience with your Guides and your Higher Self in a casual way, combining both your logical and your creative mind.
The beautiful thing about the Tarot is that now that you have seen the cards and heard the message, you can feel that that is the direction where your life is heading, you can use your free will and decide to change your circumstances. You can go about something in a new way now that you’ve seen the situation from a thorough perspective.
It’s as if you’re weighing your options on the Justice balance scale. You can see how you feel about this scenario, see its repercussions, and then you can see it from another perspective, see what may happen if you decide to handle this situation in another way.
If that still makes you uncomfortable, think of Tarot as more of a Creative Consultant. Tarot uses similar properties as these creative consultants do for these major 500 companies. We “predict” where things could go based on where they are now. But the Tarot is the tool we use in order to do so.
You can look at Tarot as a creative thinking technique. You have your question/situation, the cards provide random insight, and we mix things together intuitively to provide guidance. Of course, I don’t believe the cards are random, but it’s an easier pill to swallow if you’re not ready for that!
The Tarot is a useful tool that can aid you on your path. You can listen to it’s advice or not. Either way life moves on and we all still have free will. <3
